Rosalind B. Brown, 91, of Lamont, entered into her eternal rest on Monday, August 22, 2016 at her home in Lamont.

Rosalind B. Bigelow Brown was born December 1, 1924 at Mason City, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Verneal Henry Bigelow. The family moved to the Lamont area shortly after and Rosalind attended the local schools, graduating from Lamont High School with the class of 1942. She worked as a telephone operator for a short time before her marriage.

Rosalind was united in marriage to Raymond Edward Brown on December 2, 1944 at the First United Methodist Church in Tampa, Florida. After the war they moved to Waterloo and in 1950 moved to Lamont. Rosalind raised her eight children while Ray worked as an over the road truck driver. She was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church in Lamont, the United Methodist women of which she served as president and other offices, was a former member of the Lamont Garden Club, and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Lamont for over 51 years , having served as president of the Auxiliary. She also worked at the Home Café,Bernie’s Grocery and then Joe’s Grocery, the Lamont Library, did home care for children and the elderly, and until 2007 mowed the grass at Campton Cemetery.

She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond on January 31, 1994, her parents, a grandson Travis Hutchinson, great granddaughter Elizabeth Rose Morgan, three son-in-laws: Jerry Cooper, Danny Rawson, and Paul Sadler; and three brothers: Charles, Alfred, and Richard “Dick” Bigelow.

Survivors include her eight children: Diana Rae Cooper of Lamont; Ronald (Nancy) Brown of Indianapolis, IN; Shirley Rawson of Lamont; Jacqueline Sadler of Dyersville; Randall Brown of Lamont; Theodore (Deb) Brown of Lamont; Bruce (Diane) Brown of Manchester; and Audrey Rubner of Oelwein; twenty six grandchildren; thirty nine great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren; her sister Edith Boll of Dundee; her brother Orville “Pete” Bigelow of California, many other relatives and friends.

Visitation celebrating her life will be held from 4 PM until 7 PM Friday, Aug. 26 at the Grace United Methodist Church in Lamont and on Saturday from 10 AM until service time. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, August 27, 2016 at the Grace United Methodist Church in Lamont with Pastor Allen Craft officiating and music provide by Karen Kremer. Interment will follow at Campton Cemetery east of Lamont. Her grandsons will be her casket bearers and honorary bearers.
