Geraldine Marguerite Welter, 96, a Lee County, Florida resident for the past twenty-five years, formerly of Monti, Iowa passed away while sleeping Monday, February 15, 2016 in Cape Coral, Florida. She was born October 18, 1919 in Oneida, Iowa to Maurice and Anna Hennessey, now deceased. Funeral Services will be a wake from 3 to 7pm at Monti Community Center in Monti, Iowa on February 26th, and a funeral at 10:30am at St. Patrick’s Church in Monti, Iowa on February 27th.

Gerry was an active member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Monti IA, of St. Andrews in Cape Coral FL, and a volunteer at Kiwanis in Cape Coral. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, teacher, and home (and pie) maker. Geraldine truly lived by the golden rule "do unto others as you would have them do unto you". We're all going to miss her so very much.

She is survived by fourteen loving children including twins William (Karen) Welter of Central City IA and Robert (Carolyn) Welter of Greeley CO, Joanne Alvis of Galena IL, Richard Welter of Cape Coral FL, Patrick Welter of St. Petersburg FL, Donald (Patty) Welter of Cape Coral FL, Stephen (Deb) Welter of Coggon IA, Daniel (Denice) Welter of Newbury Park CA, Sharon Yaeger of Brookfield WI, Francis Welter of Masonville IA, Mary Welter (Rob Rader) of West Dundee IL, Janet Welter of Cape Coral FL, Marguerite Welter ( David Pigg) of Riverwoods IL, and John Welter (Jerri Burns) of Riveria Beach FL; one foster son Jeff Clark of Mechanicsville IA; six loving siblings, including Catherine (Eugene) DeLucia of St. Petersburg FL, Maurice Hennessey Jr. of Ryan IA, Marilyn McElligott of Waterloo IA, Sr. Gwen Hennessey of Sioux City IA, Larry (Donna) Hennessey of Cape Coral FL, and Mary June (Jim) McDonald of Delhi IA; twenty-nine grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Geraldine was preceded in death by her husband, Donald C. Welter, and her daughter, Carol (Robert) Ames, as well as by eight siblings.
