Ellen G. Harris, 88, of Independence, Iowa died Tuesday morning, September 20, 2016 at the Unity Point – Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa.

Ellen was born on November 24, 1927 near Troy Mills, Iowa the daughter of Robert J. and Jennie M. (Oldridge) Franck. She was raised in the Quasqueton area and was employed as a dispatcher for the Independence Police Department until she became a certified nursing assistant and began working in nursing homes and providing in home health care until her retirement in 1997.

She enjoyed puzzles, crafting, and crocheting and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Ellen is survived by eight children; Jack Kerns, Jacksonville, FL, John (Kris) Prideg, Cedar Rapids, IA, Joe Fuller, Ft. Madison, IA, Jim Prideg, Cedar Falls, IA, Debbie (Gene) Putnam, Jesup, IA, Brent Harris, Justin, TX, Bradley (Rosie) Harris, Rowley, IA, and Jimmie Harris, Justin, TX. Thirteen grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, three sisters; Ramona Peterson, LaPorte City, IA, Zelda Andersen, Independence, IA, Loretta Wright, Troy Mills, IA, and two brothers; Robert Franck, Cave City, AK, and Maynard Franck Woodward, IA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son; Jessie Boyenga, a daughter; Dawn Boyenga, six sisters; Audrey Cook, Ina Mae Eschen, Marita Wilder, Janice Franck, Letticia Franck, Lanora Franck, and two brothers; Merwin Franck and Eugene Franck.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Friday at the Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory, Independence with Rev. Bob Solon officiating. Burial will be in the Quasqueton Cemetery, Quasqueton, IA. Friends may call from 5 to 8 PM Thursday and from 8 AM to services Friday at the funeral home.
