Harry James Meek, Sr, 58, of Independence, Iowa died Friday, September 30, 2016 at his home near Independence.

Harry was born on June 29, 1958 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa the son on James A. and Betty Lou (Wright) Meek. He graduated from Jefferson High School in Cedar Rapids and was married to Dawn M. Butters on May 15, 1976 in Independence, IA. The family lived in the Independence area where Harry was employed as a Master Carpenter with Larson Construction in Independence.

He enjoyed fishing, golfing and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife Dawn Meek, Independence, IA., three children; Harry J. Meek, Jr., Joseph Meek both of Independence, IA and Amanda (Juan) Mejia all of Independence, IA. Seven grandchildren, one step grandchild, his mother; Betty Lou Lamphier, Inverness, Fl, four sisters; Colleen Strait, Cedar Rapids, IA, Cathy (Robin) Hinman, Huntington, IN, Denise (Brian) Smith, Homosassa Springs, FL, Veronica (Robert) Castiglione, Beverly Hills, FL, and three brothers; Dennis Lingo, Ocala, FL, Billy (Lisa) Lingo, Cedar Rapids, IA, and David Lingo, Des Moines, IA.

Harry was preceded in death by his father James A. Meek, and a sister; Carolyn Odom.

Memorial services will be held at 1:30 PM Wednesday, October 5th at the Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory, Independence, Iowa.
