John C. Main, 76, of Independence, Iowa died Sunday morning, November 11, 2012, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

John was born on September 13, 1936, in Independence, Iowa the son of Willis Curtis. and Frances M. (Habben) Main. He graduated from the Independence High School, and served in the US Army from
March 5, 1957 thru March 4, 1959. On January 2, 1960 he was united in marriage to Margie Schanbeck the couple later divorced. John farmed in the Independence area.

He is survived by four children; Curtis Main, Independence, IA., Tony (Cristina) Main, Quasqueton, IA, Gail (David) Barker, Louisburg, KS, and Aron (Vicki) Main, Galena, IL, eight grandchildren, one great grandchild, his mother; Frances Main, Independence, IA, a sister; Lois Olson, Webster City, IA., and three brothers; Wilbur Main, Independence, IA, Don Main, Independence, IA, and Alan Main, Epworth, IA.

He was preceded in death by his father Willis C. Main.

Memorial services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Thursday, November 15, 2012 at the Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory, Independence with Rev. Scott Meador officiating.

Inurnment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Independence. Friends may call from 12 Noon till services Thursday at the funeral home.
