Belva J. Oldridge, 82, of Winthrop, Iowa died Monday morning, November 19, 2012 at Her home near Winthrop, Iowa with her family at her side.

Belva was born on December 4, 1929, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa the daughter of Merton and Marian L. (Hoffman) McKinley. She was raised in the Independence area and moved with her family to Creston, Iowa where she graduated from the Creston High School in 1948. Following her graduation she returned to Independence and became employed as a telephone operator with Northwestern Bell. On May 9, 1953 she was united into marriage to Dean Duane Oldridge in the Little Brown Church, Nashua, Iowa. The couple farmed in the Quasqueton area. Following the death of her husband on August 12, 1977 Belva became employed with the Mental Health Institute in Independence as a switchboard operator/ receptionist for over 20 years and later as a receptionist with the Buchanan County Health Center in Independence, IA.

Belva was a member of the Quasqueton Historical Society, preformed many hours of volunteer work and mentoring in the Independence and Quasqueton area. She loved to travel and watching sports, especially those sports her children and grandchildren were involved in.

She is survived by three daughters; Kenda (Gene) Bagby, Independence, IA., Kamie Oldridge, Hiawatha, IA., and Kelly (Bob) Griswold, Winthrop, IA, five grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and a sister Evelyn (John) Orr, Omaha, NE.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Dean D. Oldridge.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Friday at the Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory in Independence, IA, with Rev. John Sheda officiating. Friends may call from 9 A.M. till services Friday at the Funeral Home.

Burial will be held in the Quasqueton Cemetery, Quasqueton, IA, following which the family will celebrate her life with a reception at Wolfey’s Wapsi Outback in Quasqueton, IA.
