George Kline Hall son of Daniel and Lucinda Hall, was born May 9, 1849, in Center County Penn., near the town of Howard. When a young man he came with his parents to Fayette County Iowa and settled on a farm near West Union where he lived until the death of his parents in 1903. He witnessed and helped in the development of our country. We give to him our gratitude for his work in the years past and pledge ourselves to sustain the ideals of our early settlers. In 1918 Mr. Hall came to Randalia and made his home with his nephew, Mr. J. B. Turner. For a number of years he has suffered from rheumatism but until just recently has been able to be around. It pleased him to get out and do what he was able to do. About three weeks ago he was taken much worse and gradually weakened up to the time of his death May 19, 1920, at the age of 71 years and ten days. Thus at the allotted three score and ten years he passed onward one more year before going to his reward. He was cared for by his loved ones, also by a trained nurse the last few days of his life. He leaves to mourn his loss three sister and four brothers: Mrs. L. H. Turner of Randalia; Mrs. L. S. Schenk of West Union. Elizabeth Hall and his brother John also of West Union, Samuel of St. Paul, Minn., Moore of Dubuque and William of Chicago, Ill. The funeral services were held from the home of his nephew. J. B. Turner, Friday morning at 10 o'clock conducted by Rev. Welch of Randalia. Burial was in the West Union cemetery. Those from away who attended the service were Samuel Hall of St. Paul, Minn., Moore Hall and daughter Laura., Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Downing and daughter, Phyllis all of Dubuque Mrs. H. T. Turner and daughter Jean of Iowa City. Mr: and Mrs. Walter Carpenter and Laura Mae of Sumner, Miss Elizabeth Hall, Mrs. Laura Schenk, Mr. and Mrs. John Hall and Howard, all of West Union.
