Kenneth D. Johnson, 85, of Shakopee, Minnesota and formerly of Hazleton, Iowa, died on Wednesday morning, August 31, 2011 at Shakopee Friendship Manor at Shakopee, Minnesota.

Funeral Service: 11:00 A.M. Saturday, September 3, 2011 at Floral Hills Funeral Home, rural Oelwein with Rev. Leo Combs-Lay officiating. Visitation: One hour before the service on Saturday at the funeral home. Military Graveside Rites by the Oelwein American Legion Ross Reid Post #9. Kenneth Duane Johnson was born on November 14, 1925 at Stanley, Iowa, the son of Earl & Esther Johnson. He graduated from high school and then graduated from Iowa State University at Ames, Iowa with a degree in engineering. Ken served in the U.S. Navy during W.W. II and the Korea War. Ken was united in marriage to Margaret Marie “Marty” Spindler on April 1, 1963 at Las Vegas, Nevada. He worked at Hughes Aircraft Corporation in California and later owned and operated Johnson’s Cackle Ranch west of Hazleton. He moved to Minnesota in October of 2004.

Ken is survived by his Son: Gary (Amanda) Johnson of Eveleth, Minnesota; 3 Grandchildren: Raven Johnson, Kyle Johnson and Hailey Kostanko and a Sister: Phyllis (Al) Zarifis of Creston, Iowa.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents and wife: Marty on July 21, 2000.
