Bernadine S. Squires, 87, of Oelwein, Iowa died on Monday evening, December 6, 2010 at the Oelwein Health Care Center in Oelwein, Iowa

Funeral Service: 10:30 A.M. on Friday, December 10, 2010 at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein, Iowa.

Officiating: Pastor Scott Hall; Visitation: from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Thursday at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home and after 9:30 A.M. on Friday.

Interment: Union Cemetery, Putnam Township, north of Aurora, Iowa

A Memorial fund has been established in her name

Bernadine Sophie Thein was born on May 15, 1923 in rural Clayton County, Iowa the daughter of Charles and Rosie (Maser) Thein.

She attended school in Lamont, Iowa. Bernadine married Harold LaVerne Squires on July 10, 1943 at Independence, Iowa. She was a homemaker and formerly lived in the Lamont area. Bernadine had been a resident of the Oelwein Health Care Center since February 16, 2010.

Bernadine is survived by her Husband of 67 years—Harold Squires of Oelwein, Iowa A Niece she raised as a Daughter—Kay Estling of Oelwein, Iowa 3 Grandchildren—Carmen, Steve, and April Numerous Nieces and Nephews Brother—LaVern (Maggie) Thein of Waterloo, Iowa 3 Sisters-in-law—Shirley Bond of Arlington, Iowa, Karen Squires of Maynard, Iowa and Dorothy Thein of Arlington, Iowa Brother-in-law—Floyd (Louise) Squires of Lakeville, Minnesota

She was preceded in death by her Parents—3 Brothers (Lawrence, Kenneth, and Floyd Thein)—a Sister (Anna)—and 2 Brother’s-in-law (Marlan Squires and Joe Bond).
