Elsie M. Polege, 93, of Maynard, Iowa died on Friday afternoon, December 17, 2010 at Maple Crest Manor at Fayette.

Funeral Service: 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Maynard with Rev. Ian Wolfe officiating.

Visitation: 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Monday at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Maynard and for one hour before the service at the church on Tuesday.

Interment: Fairbank Cemetery, Fairbank, Iowa. A memorial Fund has been established.

Elsie Marie Nichols was born on July 13, 1917 at Poplar, Minnesota, the daughter of James F. & Iva (Brant) Nichols.

She graduated from Dunkerton High School in 1936. Elsie was united in marriage to Adolph Polege on June 22, 1936 at Clinton, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed on December 13, 1936 at St. John Lutheran Church in Fairbank.

Elsie lived in Fairbank for 54 years where she worked as a cook at Wapsi Valley Schools for 29 ½ years. She moved to Maynard in 1990. Elsie was previously a member of St. John Lutheran Church at Fairbank. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Alter Guild, Quilting Group and Rebecca Circle. She was also a member of the Maynard Senior Citizens.

Elsie is survived by her Son: Dennis Polege of Oelwein; 3 Daughters: Mary (Clare) Hillman of Maynard, Margaret Ford (Richard Hassler) of Maynard and Beverly (Robert) Puls of Westgate; 7 Grandchildren; 13 Great Grandchildren; 3 Great Great Grandchildren and 2 Brothers: Gerald Nichols of Clinton and Don Nichols of Waterloo.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Adolph “Tuffy” Polege on January 10, 2002, 2 Granddaughters and a brother: Clarence Nichols.
