Funeral services for Charles Lewis Catt, 90, Pioneer county resident will be held at 2 p.m. Friday,Feb. 18, at the Swanson Funeral home in Independence.

Mr. Catt died at 9 a. m. Wednesday,Feb.16 at his. home at 310 Second street south east in Independence.

Mr.Catt was born Dec.26,1804 In Kalamazoo, Mich., the son of. Lewis and Julia Cosselman Catt. He came to Buchanan county with his parents at the age of three months and they made their home on a farm In Byron township, three miles east of Independence.

On Jan. 4, 1887, he married Miss Elizabeth Spece at the Rev.Mr.Gill's parsonage east of
Independence. Mrs.Catt died Oct.6,1923. They had moved to Independence from Byron township in June,1921.

Mr. Catt was a member of the First Methodist church and the Modern Woodmen lodge.

He is survived by two sons,Jesse C. Catt on the home farm and Clyde L. Catt of Minneapolis;four daughters, Mrs. Mae Porterfield and Mrs. Helen Kleven of Waterloo, Mrs. Bertha Franklin of San Francisco and Mrs. Vivian Krueger, with whom he made his home; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wile and one daughter, Mrs. Bessie Allschwaget, who died May 3,
1936.

The Rev. W. R. Noland of Clear Lake, former pastor of the Independence Methodist church
will officiate at funeral service.Burial will be at Wilson cemetery.Pallbearers will be grandsons.

Mr. Can was a well-known farmer for many years. He has been in ill health for a number of months and was bedridden for several months.
