DIED--In Independence, Iowa, May 5, Mrs. Malvina, wife of T. C.Bartle, and eldest daughter of Moses Putney of Hopkinton, N. H., in the 35th year of her age. Mrs. Bartle's mind was early impressed with the subject of religion and it had much to do in guiding her tender foot-steps.

In her 17th year she put on Christ, publicly, by uniting with the Baptist Church in Libertyville, Lake Co., Illinois, of which she remained a worthy and respected member until happily united in marriage with the one who now so deeply feels her loss, and removed with him to this place. Here she became one of the constituent members
of the little Baptist Church, which was organized some two years since, with 11 in number, and for the welfare of which she ever manifested a deep interest and much solicitude.

She was firm and decided in her religious principles, yet kind and benevolent towards
those differing from her in sentiment. She is the first of the membership of the church--now numbering 35--that has fallen by death.

In her the poor found a friend, the afflicted one to sympathize with them, and ever ready to administer relief to the extent of her ability. But the domestic circle was perhaps more emphatically her peculiar province. Here her amiable qualities unfolded their richest
attractions, and exhaled their sweetest odor.

Here, also, the severity of this affliction will be most deeply felt. Her last moments were most happy and triumphant, clearly demonstrating the
power of the religion she professed to sustain her in the dying hour. She earnestly entreated her husband, daughter, brother and sister and friends to prepare to meet her in another world.
