LESLIE--At the residence of her brother-in-law, Mr. James Leslie,Northfield, Summit Co., Ohio, on the 27th day of Nov., in the 22nd year of age, Mrs. Sophia M. Leslie, wife of Mr. Samuel Leslie--her disease was pulmonary consumption.

The deceased was the daughter of Mr. Marinus and Mary Pierce, formerly of Geneva, Ashtabula Co., Ohio; latterly of Independence, Buchanan Co., Iowa. From the latter place she, with her husband and infant child, had come, a short time before
her death, in hopes that a change of climate might arrest the fatal disease that was preying on her system; but, as it appears in the
developments of an all-wise Providence, only to lay down her mortal remains among those who to her had hitherto been strangers.
She met,on her arrival, a hearty welcome from the very kind, christian, and highly respectable relatives of her husband, by whom her last hours
were made as comfortable as sympathizing relatives can make a bed of death, and not, as we trust, without the comfortable presence of Him
who is "the friend that sticketh closer than a brother."

The messenger came at last, somewhat suddenly and unexpectedly, but not so much as to prevent her from welcoming him as the harbinger of good
things to come. She died, according to her own declaration, in the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, and in the hope of a glorious and
blessed immortality.
