BRANDON — Glenn “Sid” Little, 86, of Brandon, died Thursday, Dec. 25, at the Iowa Veterans Home, Marshalltown, following a lengthy illness.
He was born June 21, 1922, in Madison, Wis., son of Ralph C. and Ruth Moubry Little. He married Esther Smith on April 7, 1942.
Mr. Little served in the U.S. Army and fought at the Battle of the Bulge. He farmed in Linn and Buchanan counties, and also owned Sid’s DX, Brandon, for almost 40 years. He was a member of the Brandon Fire Department for 37 years.
Survived by: his wife; a son, Mike (Beth) of Brandon; a daughter, Pat (Meg) Sloan of Urbandale; a daughter-in-law, Carol Little of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, George (Frankie) of Texas and Lawson of Cedar Rapids; and two sisters, Naomi (Howard) Yates of Palo and Linda Tilbury of Colorado.
Preceded in death by: a son, Glenn “Bill;” a daughter, Sandi Gray; a son-in-law, Ron Gray; two brothers, Laurance and Robert; and a sister, Mary Sue Wheeler.
Memorial visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, Vinton, with flag presentation at 7 p.m. conducted by Emil H. Dutler American Legion Post 177 of Mount Auburn. Inurnment will be in Brandon Cemetery at a later date.
