HAZLETON - Patricia A. Franzen, 67, of Hazleton, died Wednesday morning, April 4, 2007, at the Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo, after a lengthy illness.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, April 9, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oelwein, with the Rev. Frederick C. Fangmann officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery at Hazleton. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Jamison - Schmitz Funeral Home,221 N. Frederick, in Oelwein, where there will be a parish scripture service at 7 p.m.ƒ
A memorial fund has been established in her name. Patricia is survived by her husband Lawrence of Hazleton; her son Craig Franzen of Waverly; four daughters Lorrie (Clifford) Osborn of Sun Prairie, Wis:, Linda (Randy) Bast of Jesup, Lisa (Darren) Ruzicka of Palo, and Lynette Renner of Independence; ten grandchildren, three great grandchildren; and her sister, Shirley (Kenny) Steen of Waterloo.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a stepfather Lawrence Dirks.
Patricia' Ann Hilmer was born on June 2, 1939 at Waterloo, the daughter of LeRoy and Helen (McDaniel) Hilmer. She graduated from Readlyn High School in 1957. Patricia married Lawrence Paul Franzen on July 20, 1957 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Waterloo. She worked at Sara Lee in New Hampton in the bakery department. Patricia was a former member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Waverly. She was formerly of Readlyn) and has been a resident) of Hazleton since 2001.
