Child Drowned in a Tank.
Waverly Independent -Adolph, the little 3-year-old boy of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Westphal, was drowned in a water tank Monday afternoon. They live on the old ice place west of town. Mrs. Westphal is a daughter of Mr. Roloff of the 5th ward. They had company. After playing in the house for a while the little fellow went out with a tin pail. Ten minutes later his mother went to look for him, she went to the well and found her boy lying at the bottom of the tank with his face downward. He was dead, and all efforts to resuscitate him proved unavailing. It seems he went to the tank leaned over the edge to reach down to fill his little pail and he fell in. He was buried yesterday in the Lutheran cemetery. The grief stricken parents have the heart-felt sympathy of our community.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows a Baby Westphal of this age buried in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery.
