A Dangerous Section to Live In,
Waverly Independent:—Since February 1899 the Independent has published accounts of five different suicides in Bremer county. They all lived within ten miles of each other. The last was John Krause,* 40 years of age who blew the top of his head off with a shot gun. He lived in Frederika township. The names of the others were Benjamin Kellner, aged 27, Henry Krueger, age 39, H. J. Koch, about 40 and Wm. Blum** age 50. Nearly all of them were well- to-do farmers.
