Robert Alan Reisner

Robert Alan Reisner, 59, of Sumner, died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2000, at the Methodist Hospital in Rochester, Minn., following a lengthy illness.

Funeral services were held Sunday, Jan. 16, at 4 p.m., at St. John Lutheran Church in Sumner with the Revs. John Sorenson and Norman Stubbendick officiating.

Casket bearers were Leon Nicklaus, Gene Knoploh, Merv Hildebrandt, Gary Walke, Kenny Kasemeier and Stan Koester. Honorary bearers were Walter Erkel and Jim Niemann.

Interment was at the St. John Lutheran Church Cemetery in Sumner, with the Becker-Milnes Funeral Home in Sumner handling arrangements.

Robert was born at Sumner July 9, 1940, the son of Lloyd and Lydia (Niemann) Reisner. He was baptized Aug. 6, 1940, and confirmed April 11, 1954, at St. John Lutheran Church in Sumner. He graduated from Sumner High School in 1958 and attended Wartburg College.

On Jan. 14, 1967, he was united in marriage with Bonnie Burke at Sumner.

Robert was the transportation director for the Sumner Community Schools at the time of his death.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie; 4 sons, Dave of Fort Worth, Texas, Dan (Juliana) of Sumner, Scott of Tripoli and Joseph (Stefanie) of Stewartville, Minn.; and one sister, Mary (Roger) Westendorf of Oelwein.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents.
