The late Andrew Baumgartner was born July 26, 1854, in Jefferson, Wisconsin, where he also was baptized, and after he had been instructed in the Lutheran doctrine, was confirmed in the Lutheran creed by Rev. C. F. Goldammer on the 23rd day of May 1869 and admitted to the Lord'supper.

His parents were Henry Baumgartner and Elizabeth Ruprecht.

After the deceased had learned the harnassmakers trade he came to Iowa some thirty years ago, and was married to Mary Gaede on the 20th day of Nov. 1877. The marriage was performed by Rev. Charles Franke, at Waverly, Iowa.

This union was blessed with six children, three sons and three daughters, all of whom are alive.

The deceased has had a strong constitution and had been a hard worker until the beginning of this winter when his strength began to fail. About a week ago he really felt sick, but still was up and around until last Wednesday when he had to keep in bed and apply for medical help. Brain fever, which set in, soon rendered him unconscious and he never regained his senses. Saturday morning, April 2, 1910 at half past eight o'clock he quickly passed away.

The deceased had been a hard worker, a faithful husband, a loving father, and respected by all who knew him.

His age is 55 years 8 months and 5 days.

The funeral services, which was preached in English, were held Friday morning at 10 o'clock at the residence, going from there to the St. John's Lutheran church, Rev. Bredow officiating. The burial was made in the Union Mound cemetery.

May he rest in peace.
