Tripoli Leader - December 20, 1939

Mrs. Pauline Bremer, 81, widow of August Bremer, Sr., died at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the home of her son, August Bremer, 421 Cottage Street, Waterloo, where she had been living the past year. She was ill three months.

Pauline Lamka was born May 20, 1858, at Schonberg, Germany. She was baptized in infancy and confirmed at the age of 14 in the Lutheran faith. She was married in Germany and they came to the United States in the same year.

The couple settled in Leroy township, Bremer county, and later moved to Frederika township. In 1904 they moved to Frederika, where Mr. Bremer died in that year.

Mrs. Bremer was a charter member of St. Paul's church in Leroy township and retained her membership until recently, when she became a member of the Lutheran church at Frederika.

Surviving are three sons, Fred and Frank, both of Frederika, and August of Waterloo; 17 grandchildren, 18 great granchildren; two sisters, Mrs. August Krueger, Leroy township, and Mrs. William Gaede, Sumner: a half-brother, August Pieper of Tripoli.

The body was brought to the Rettig & Meier funeral home at Tripoli, where it remained till Wednesday noon. It was then taken to Frederika where services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the home of a son-in-law, William Segebarth, followed by a service at the Lutheran church there at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be made in the Leroy township cemetery.
