Mrs. Leslie Brodie Dies.
After a short illness of influenza and pneumonia, Mrs. Leslie Brodie died at her home in this city on Friday, February 14, 1919. Miss Laura Miller was born in Bremer county and had spent all her life in this vicinity, the past several years having been spent in Waverly. May 28, 1918, she was united in marriage to Leslie Brodie, and their life together had been most happy. At the time of her death she was 27 years of age. For a number of years Mrs. Brodie was a clerk in the various stores of this city and in this capacity had become acquainted with a wide circle of friends, and all join in extending sympathy to the bereaved relatives in their sorrow at the untimely taking away of this splendid young woman. She leaves to mourn her husband, her mother, Mrs. C.A. Miller; four sisters, Mrs. C.W. Elliott, of Central City, Neb.; Mrs. Ed. Scully, of Clarksville; Mrs. Wm. Hoffman, of Waverly; Mrs. Geo. Green of Carnegie, Okla.; one brother, George, of Sauk Center, Minn. All were here to attend the funeral, with the exeption of Mrs. Green, who could not come on account of illness. Other out-of-town relatives who were here were Gladys McLaomar, of Clinton, Iowa; Miss Florence Gish, of Michigan; Warren Hurlbut, of Calmar, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Dick Alcock and family, of Cedar Falls. Private services were held at the residence, Rev. A.W. Henke officiating and burial was in the Miller family lot at Horton.
