Funeral services for Laura Kilcher were held Thursday, July 18 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Richfield, rural Sumner, Iowa. Rev. Joseph Rodriquez officiated. Pallbearers were Gregory Kilcher, Jeffrey Kilcher, Donald Forsman, James Forsman, Gerald Carolan, Kevin Kleve, and Tom Frevert. Burial was in the St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery, rural Sumner, Iowa. Chenoweth and Son Funeral Home of Fredericksburg, Iowa was in charge of services.

Laura Caroline, daughter of Frederick Johann and Anna Marie Louisa (Nieman) Niewoehner, was born March 25, 1896 at rural Fredericksburg, Iowa. Laura and Elmer J. Kilcher were united in marriage on June 29, 1919 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church. To this union, three children were born. Elmer and Laura lived and farmed in the Richfield area most of their married life. Elmer passed away December 6, 1950. Laura remained on the farm until 1958 when she moved to Fredericksburg, Iowa.

At the age of 95, Laura passed away at the Hillcrest Home in Sumner, Iowa on July 16, 1991. She was a life-long member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Elmer, six brothers and two sisters.

Laura is survived by 2 sons, Eldred Kilcher of rural Waucoma, Iowa and Paul Kilcher of Monona, Iowa; 1 daughter, Ruth Diemer of Fredericksburg, Iowa; 1 step-daughter, Melba Forsman of Fredericksburg, Iowa; 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren; 1 brother August Niewoehner of Waverly, Iowa and 2 sisters, Emma Schroeder of West Union, Iowa and Hertha Morf of Cedar Falls, Iowa.
