Carol Burkle Larson, 60, of Omaha, Neb., formerly of Janesville, died Saturday, Jan. 8, after a long illness with a progressive form of multiple sclerosis.

She was born Dec 20, 1950, in Sumner, daughter of William "Allen" and Vivian Destival Rieck. She married Ron Burkle.
After graduating from Janesville High School in 1969, she attended Ellsworth Community College, Iowa Falls.

Survived by a daughter, Stacy (John) Walston of Oskaloosa; a son, Ryan (Jackie) Burkle of Omaha; four grandchildren, Morgan Burkle, Tyler Burkle, Mathis Walson and William "Turner" Walston; her mother, Vivian Rieck of Janesville, her grandmother, Amelia Destival of Janesville, two sister, Dixie (Robert) Schmidt of Dunkerton and Julie (Duane) Brevig of New Hope, Minn.; and two brothers, Steve (Gena) Rieck of Leavenworth, Kan., and Mark Rieck of Scarville.

Preceded in death by her father.

Services were 10:30 a.m. today at St Mary's Catholic Church, Waverly, with inurnment at a later date in Memorial Gardens Cemetery. At her request, her body was cremated. Bates Funeral Home, Oskaloosa, was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to Comfort House Hospice, Pella, or to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society for their continued research in finding a cure/better treatment for those suffering from MS, in lieu of flowers.

(Carol adored spending time with her grandchildren. Her passion for beauty showed in her geat sense of style, the fabulous way she decorated her home and the lovely flowers and plants she grew.)
