Former Sumner Resident in Shoe Repair Business Succumbs at Winona, Minn.

SUMNER-Funeral services for Emil F. Marks, 49, former Sumner resident, who died at his home in Winona, Minn., Sunday noon following an illness of heart disease and complications, were held last Wednesday afternoon in Sumner at the Salem Evangelical church. The pastor, Rev. J.D. Klooz officiated. Interment was in Zion Evangelical cemetery, northwest of Sumner.Mr. Marks was born near Berlin, Germany, Mar. 19, 1886, and came to America while a small child. He lived in Sumner for many years and was associated with his brother, Carl, in the shoe repair business. On September 29, 1910, he was married to Miss Treva Wescott. He moved to Winona 20 years ago and followed his trade there.
Besides his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Alfred Thorbus, of Minneapolis, Minn., five brothers, Frank of Liberal, Mo., Albert of Davenport, Gustave of Sumner, August of Duluth, Minn., and Will of Fort Smith, Ark., and three sisters, Mrs. Frank Pagel, Mrs. George Muether, both of Sumner, and Mrs. Henry Topp of Elgin.
