Kelly J. Huffracker, 49, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and formerly of Waverly, died Sunday evening, March 1, 2009, at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha, Iowa, from complications of cancer.

He was born on September 20, 1959, in Sioux City, Iowa. At a young age he moved to Waverly and graduated from the Waverly-Shell Rock High School in 1978. He then worked in the area and November 19, 1979, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps where he served until his discharge on July 28, 1984. Kelly then returned to Waverly and went to work for RCI Electric. On August 8, 1987, he was united in marriage to Sandra Padget at Grace Baptist Church, Waverly. The couple moved to California and in 1988 they returned to Waverly and Kelly continued with RCI. In 1994 they moved to Cedar Rapids where Kelly worked for several electrical contractors and ten years ago began his career with Price Industrial Electric, where he was currently employed.

Kelly enjoyed many things in his life. He loved family, friends, food and football, (especially the Hawkeyes), travel and drag racing. He loved his work and the guys he worked with. He had a joy for his daily life and always had a smile and a very famous laugh. He walked into the room and immediately brought joy to all around him. He was diagnosed with cancer in August of 2007, but he never let that get him down. He just kept on being Kelly. Kelly and Sandra were former members of Grace Baptist Church , Waverly, and since moving to Cedar Rapids have been in fellowship there.

Kelly's family would like to thank the Oncology Associates group and the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy and hospice staff for their love, concern and support that gave Kelly his quality of life over the last years and months.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra, of Cedar Rapids; one son, Josh Bohlen & Allene White of Waverly; two daughters, Amber & Brandon Scheil of Mt. Vernon, Iowa, Brittany Huffracker and fiancé, Andrew Noehl of Cedar Rapids; two grandsons, Cayden Lee Scheil and Dawson Jay Scheil; and by his foster father, Guy Phelps of Waterloo. He was preceded in death by his mother, Audrey Menzel, and his foster mother, Ethelyn Rose Phelps.
