“Walter Hammetter, son of George and Susan Hammetter was born in Sumner, Iowa, June 3, 1878. On January 11, 1906 he was joined in matrimony with Miss Mabel Wendling, of Hazel, S.D. But this union was of short duration for on the first day of December, 1907, she was removed from his side by death.

“In his early youth he became a member of the Evangelical church and held his membership until the close of his earthly career.

“He died December 1, 1918, just eleven years to the very hour after his beloved wife had been taken from his side.

“He leaves a young daughter, father, 4 brothers, 2 sisters and many friends to mourn his early and unexpected death.

“His age was 40 years, 5 months and 28 days. May God grand him and the beloved wife a happy reunion.
