Page 1 Col 3 Title: PLAT BOOK LISTS 22 BUHR FAMILIES

If the Meiers and Meyers teamed up they'd outnumber all other family names in Bremer county, but until they do, the Buhrs lead with 22 families of that name, with the Moellers right behind with 21 families.

According to the list of farm families in Bremer county just compiled for the INDEPEDENT AND DEMOCRATS plat book the meiers total 11 families, and the Meyers number 20. Right back of them come the Millers with 18 name sin the county.

This Plat book (which will be published soon) contains the names, addresses and status of all farmers in the county. It is complete as possible with township maps and city market accompanying the list.
The number of family names listed in the plat book is approximately 2,100. Other high numberfamilies in the county include the Smiths with15, and the Westendorfs , also with 15. The Brases have 13 families listed in the county, the Poocks, 13.

Besides the Meiers in the 11 bracket are the Matthias families, the Bergman (including the double n) families, the Schmidts, and the Seehases families. Families having ten names in the county include the Albrechts, the Buchholz, and the Brandts. There are many, many family names in the countywith five, six, seven and eight members listed.

The unusual thing about these family names is that, though in most cases the separate families are related, their addresses show them settled throughout the county, and in almost every township.
