H.C. Everding is the son of a pioneer in Bremer county and is now engaged in general farming on the property upon which his parents settled in early times. He was born in Germany, February 12, 1864, and is a son of Fred and Mary (Schwer) Everding, also natives of the fatherland, the former born September 19, 1830, and the latter April 9th of the same year. They came to the United States in 1867 and settled upon eighty acres of wild prairie land on section 36, Warren township, Bremer county, Upon this property the father built a home and here he has since resided, although the farm has been sold to his son. He had three children: Fred, a farmer in Fremont township; Mary, deceased; and H.C., of this review.

H.C. Everding was reared upon his father's farm and acquired his education in the district schools. When he began his independent career he purchased the homestead from his father and he has since greatly increased his holdings, owning today two hundred acres on section 36, Warren township, one hundred and twenty acres on section 31, Fremont township, and he has three hundred and twenty acres of fine farming land in Minnesota. There is a fine set of buildings upon the home farm and these are kept always modern and in good repair, the entire place reflecting the care and labor which the owner bestows upon it.

Mr. Everding married Miss Sophia Clausing, a native of Bremer county and a daughter of Fred Clausing, an early settler in Warren township. He passed away in 1910 and his wife makes her home in Waverly. Mr. and Mrs. Everding have five children: Alvina, the wife of H.W. Peters, of Fremont township; and Albert, Martha, Clara and Amanda, at home.

Mr Everding is a member of the Lutheran church and a democrat in his political beliefs. He has been secretary of the school board for the past twenty years and is now serving his second term as township trustee. His life has been one of well directed activity and intelligent effort, resulting in the attainment of a fair measure of success, and wherever he is known he is respected and esteemed by reason of his genuine personal worth.
