A.G. Koch, a prosperous and representative agriculturist of Bremer county, is the owner of two hundred acres of rich and productive land on sections 17, 16 and 8, Fremont township. That farm has remained his home from his birth to the present time, his natal day being October 7, 1866. His parents are Adolph and Matilda (Heise) Koch, of whom more extended mention is made on another page of this work. The father, a retired agriculturist of Tripoli, is one of Bremer county's oldest settlers.

A.G. Koch acquired his education in the district and German schools and has always remained on the home farm, early becoming familiar with the duties and labors that fall to the lot of the agriculturist as he assisted his father in the work of the fields. Eventually he succeeded the latter in the ownership of the old homestead, which comprised one hundred and sixty acres on section 17, Fremont township. He has added forty acres to the original tract and now owns two hundred acres of valuable land on sections 17, 16 and 8, where he carries on general agricultural pursuits with excellent success, annually harvesting good crops which find a ready sale on the market. The property is well improved in every particular and in its neat and thrifty appearance gives evidence of the supervision of a practical and progressive owner.

In Fremont township Mr. Koch was united in marriage to Miss Minnie Bunger, a native of that township and a daughter of John and Sophia (Werneke) Bunger, who were natives of Germany. They came to Bremer county, Iowa, in 1868, and took up their abode on a farm in Fremont township. The father has passed away and the mother makes her home in Tripoli. Mr. and Mrs. Koch are the parents of four children, namely: Amelia, Alinda, Alfred and Adella. The family are Lutherans in religious faith, belonging to the church of that denomination in Tripoli. Mr. Koch gives his political allegiance to the republican party and has ably served in the capacity of school director. Both he and his wife have spent their entire lives in Bremer county and enjoy an extensive and favorable acquaintance within its borders.
