F.H. Tegtmeier is operating the farm of one hundred and seventy-five acres in Fremont township upon which he was born September 26, 1870, a son of Henry Tegtmeier, deceased. He acquired his education in the district schools and at the age of twenty-two married, and purchased one hundred and seventy-five acres of land from his father. Upon this property he has since resided, engaging in dairy farming in which he has met with gratifying success. He has improved the place with excellent buildings and has neglected nothing which would add to its appearance or value. In addition to this he owns a residence in Tripoli, where he is widely and favorably known.

In 1892, Mr. Tegtmeier married Miss Sophia Haase, who was born in Bremer county, a daughter of Henry Haase. Mr. and Mrs. Tegtmeier have become the parents of two children: Amanda, at home, and William, who died at the age of three years. Mr. Tegtmeier is a member of the Evangelical Association of Tripoli and is a democrat in his political beliefs. He is a man of energy, resource and capabiltiy, and is numbered among the successful farmers and progressive citizens of this locality.
