Herman Tegtmeier, a representative in the fourth generation of one of the best known families of Bremer county and himself one of the active and progressive young agriculturists of Fremont township, was born upon his father's farm December 26, 1888, a son of H.H.C. Tegtmeier, of whom further mention is made elsewhere in this work. Herman Tegtmeier was reared at home and acquired his education in the district and German schools of this township. In the spring of 1911 he purchased two hundred acres of land on section 17, Fremont township, and here he engages in general farming meeting with that success which always follows earnest and persistent labor.

On March 2, 1911, Mr. Tegtmeier married Miss Emma Buhr, a daughter of C.H.C. Buhr, of Maxfield township. Mr. Tegtmeier is still a young man, but has already attained a gratifying degree of success and his record is a credit to a name which has long been held in high honor and esteem in this community.
