Chapin, Arthur D.

Arthur D. Chapin, operating the farm in Fremont township upon which he was born May 1, 1866, is a son of Lyman Chapin, an early settler in this locality and for many years a prominent farmer here. Mr. Chapin of this review was educated in the district schools and afterward graduated from the Elliot Business College, Burlington, Iowa. After laying aside his books he continued upon the homestead which upon his father's death came into his possession. He owns two hundred and thirty-eight acres on section 14, Fremont township, and has equipped this with excellent buildings and modern machinery, making it a valuable agricultural property. For several years Mr. Chapin was secretary of the local creamery and he is a man of recognized business ability.

Mr. Chapin married Miss Mary E. Brown, who was born in Bremer county, and they have become the parents of five children, Elizabeth O., Kenneth A., Marion and Myron, twins and Elston. Mr. Chapin gives his political allegiance to the republican party and has been school director and a delegate to numerous county conventions. He takes a commendable interest in community affairs and his worth as a man and a citizen is widely acknowledged.
