E.H. Martin, occupying a position of distinctive precedence in financial circles of Tripoli as president of the State Bank, is a native of Bremer county, born in June, 1967. He is a son of John H. Martin, of whom a record appears elsewhere in this work.

E.H. Martin spent his boyhood upon his father's farm, acquiring his education in the district schools and in Cedar Falls Normal School, where he spent one year. When he began his active career he turned his attention to the lumber business in Washington state, following this occupation for five years thereafter. At the end of that time he returned to Bremer county and in 1894 joined his father in the organization of the State Bank of Tripoli. Mr. Martin of this review served as cashier until June, 1913, and then succeeded his father as president of the institution. He is a man of keen insight and discrimination and his judgement on financial questions is considered sound and reliable.

Mr. Martin married Miss Bertha Crary, of Grundy Center, Iowa, and they have become the parents of three children, William C., John E. and Kathryn. The parents are members of the Congregational church, of which Mr. Martin serves as trustee. He is identified with the Masonic lodge and give his political allegiance to the republican party, taking an intelligent interest in community affairs without being active as an office seeker. He is one of Tripoli's popular and representative citizens and in business circles has made for himself an enviable position.
