Robert E. Lease, a representative agriculturist and worthy native son of Bremer county, is the owner of a well improved farm of one hundred and sixty acres on sections 22 and 23, Sumner township. His birth occurred on his father's farm in that township on the 2d of October, 1869, his parents being Henry and Mary (Baker) Lease, the former one of Bremer county's earliest settlers and most venerable citizens. Robert E. Lease attended the district schools in the acquirement of an education and after putting aside his text-books assisted in the work of the home farm, thus early becoming familiar with the best methods of tilling the soil and caring for the crops. In 1894, in association with his brother, J.A., he purchased the home place and there continued general agricultural pursuits for several years. Disposing of the property, he bought a tract of eighty acres in Sumner township and three years ago purchased his present farm, comprising one hundred and sixty acres lying one mile west of Sumner. A good set of improvements adorn the property and the handsome new residence which stands thereon was erected by Mr. Lease. He devotes his time and energies to general farming and annually gathers bounteous crops which find a ready sale on the market.

As a companion and helpmate on the journey of life Mr. Lease chose Miss Letitia Fox, a native of Fayette county, Iowa, by whom he has two children, Milo and Lester. His political allegiance is given to the republican party, while his religious faith is indicated by his membership in the United Brethren at Sumner. He is well known and highly esteemed throughout the county in which his entire life has been spent and is widely recognized as one of its substantial agriculurists and enterprising citizens.
