OLD RESIDENT OF VICINITY DIED SUNDAY
Carl Mindemann was 82 Years at Time of Death
End Came at 12:30 O'Clock at Daughters Home
Is Survived by Five Children, Two Sons and Three Daughters
Carl Mindemann, age 82 years, died Thursday afternoon at 12:30 o'clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. C.M. Hasstedt, northeast of this city following a serious illness of the past three weeks.
For a number of years, Mr. Mindemann, a long time resident of this vicinity had been ailing from a complication of ailments due to his advanced years.
He is survived by five children all of this vicinity but one. The children are: Andrew Mindemann, Mrs. C.M. Hasstedt, Mrs. Henry Leininger, and Carl Mindemann of this vicinity and Mrs. John Krecji of Chicago.
The funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock from the residence and 2:00 o'clock from the St. Paul Lutheran Church northeast of this city. The rev. M.H.J. Geiken, pastor of that church will conduct the last rites.

SERVICES FOR CARL MINDEMANN WERE HELD SUNDAY
End Came Thursday, July 4, at Daughter's House - Had Resided in Vicinity Many Years
Services Conducted by the Rev. M.H. Geiken, Interment was Made at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery
The funeral services for the late Carl Mindemann, age 82 years, who died Thursday, July 4, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. C. M. Hasstedt, were held Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock from the home of his son, Andrew Mindemann northeast of this city and 2:30 o'clock from the St. Paul Lutheran Church.
The Rev. M. H. Geiken, pastor of that church had charge of the funeral services and preached them both in English and German. Two hymns were sung by request by Mrs. J. L. Koch and Miss E. Moeller with John L. Koch at the organ. The hymns sung were: "Wofindet die Seele die Heimat" and "Rock of Ages".
The pallbearers were messers John Murken, John Moeller, Ernest Krug, Charles Kiemer, Andrew Happel and William Bockwoldt. Interment was made at the St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery.
Carl Mindemann, a native of Germany and for many years a resident of Boone County, Harrison Township, was born June 24, 1847. At the age of ten he emigrated to America and came to Blue Island, Ill., where he grew into young manhood. On March 5, 1875, he married Marie Stoll. One year after their marriage the young couple came to Boone, Ia., settling in Harrison Township northeast of Boone, where the deceased lived ever since.
Mr. and Mrs. Carl Mindemann had a family of seven children. Four sons and three daughters. He was a faithful father, kind neighbor, an honest citizen. One of the first members of St. Paul's Evangelical congregation southeast of Boone, near Mackey, Ia. Several years ago he retired and lived with his wife on the home place until her death September 1927. Since then he has made his home with his children, who made a comfortable home and cared for him in his declining years. Due to advanced years he ailed considerable the late years of his life. Five years ago he became partially blind and the last two and a half years he was totally blind. He enjoyed the visits of the pastors of St. Pauls and his many friends. He looked toward the church for guidance and comfort and was a loyal member and support of the church and school. He was loyal to the end.
While staying with his daughter, Mrs. Chris M. Hasstedt, he became seriously ill Friday, June 28 and died there, the same place his wife Maria Mindemann died, on July 4 at 12:30 p.m. last Thursday. Aged 82 years and 10 days.
He is survived by five children, two sons having died; Carl H. Mindemann, Mrs. Henry Leininger, Mrs. C. M. Hasstedt, Andrew Mindemann, all of this community and Mrs. John Krecji of Chicago. Twelve grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
