Catherine Margareta (Eckhoff) Mindemann (1879-1967)

Mrs. Catherine Margareta Mindemann was born to Juergen Eckhoff and his wife Rebecka Mahler on June 30, 1879 at Hanover, Germany. She came to America with her parents at the age of 4 and attended St. Paul and Trinity Lutheran Schools in Boone. As a youth she was instructed and then by the rite of confirmation received as a communicant member of Trinity Lutheran Church on April 10, 1892 by Pastor J.P. Guenther.

On April 12, 1898 she was joined in marriage to Carl Henry William Friederich Mindemann at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Harrison Township.

The couple made their home on a farm northeast of Boone until her husband's death in 1933. Two years later she moved to Boone and became a member of Trinity Lutheran Church congregation.

She died May 26, 1967 at the age of 87 years, 11 months and 26 days. She was survived by her daughter, Mrs. Lydia Toepfer of Boone; a granddaughter, Mrs. Tom Leiper of Arvada, Colorado; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brothers.

Funeral services were held at Trinity Lutheran Church on Monday, May 29, 1967 at 1:30 p.m., with the Rev. Paul C. Mueller officiating. Pallbearers were Herman Hasstedt, Cecil Hasstedt, Ted Sprecher, Carl Sprecher, Fred Porter and Emanuel Eckhoff.
