Hilda Sorenson, 95, Stratford Care Center, formerly of Boone, died of respiratory failure Sept. 30, 1994 at the Hamilton County Hospital in Webster City. She was born in Boone County on April 12, 1899, the daughter of Henry and Meta (Kueck) Tietjen. She married Dannie Eckley, who died in 1946. She later married Elmer Sorenson, who died in 1960. She was a homemaker.

In addition to her first and second husbands, she was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister. She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Nadine Eilbert of Stratford and Ione and Bob Brown of Madrid; a stepson, Bud, and wife Shirley Sorenson of Boone; three stepdaughters, Doris and husband Howard Cody of Ames, Elma Boersma of Hampton and Margaret and husband Jerry Phillips of Fort Madison; a sister-in-law, Anna Tietjen of Boone; four grandchildren, Darrell Berglund of Omaha, Neb., Larry Sturtz of Marshalltown, Dan and wife Debby Berglund of Chapin, SC, and Mary and husband Doug Pentico of Boone; five great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and step grandchildren, and step great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Oct. 4 at Schroeder Memorial Chapel with Rev. Daniel Alsop officiating. Burial will be in the St. Paul's Cemetery in rural Boone.
