Funeral services for Mrs. Lillie May Kirk, were held at the Schroeder Funeral Home, Boone, IA, on February 23, 1959, at 2p.m. with Dr. Edwin W. Frohardt, minister of First Methodist Church of Boone officiating.
Pallbearers were: Anton Johnson, Harry Anderson, Charles Slater, William Miles, Herschel Roberts
and M.J. Manriquez.
Mrs. Victor Gable and Mrs. Floyd Pulver were in charge of flowers. Burial was in Linwood Park Cemetery.
Lillie May Kirk, daughter of Silas Briggs and Obedience Ludington Briggs, was born in Valparaiso, Ind. on January 16, 1871. She died at Boone, IA., Feb 20, 1959 at the age of 88 years, 1 month and four days.
She was married to George B. Kirk on October 29, 1887, in Boone, IA. During heir married life they resided at Kansas City, Mo., and at Boone, IA.
She was a member of the Methodist Church for more than 50 years, and since 1937 was a member of the Boone First Methodist Church.
She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary to B. of R.T., a member of the Eastern Star, and of the Woman's relief corps.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four brothers and two sisters.
Surviving are her nieces, Mrs. Bertha Anderson, Mrs. C.L. Curell, Mrs. Clyde Nicholson and Mrs. Elizabeth Read, all of Boone; and Mrs. Otto Edgren and Mrs. Ray Davis both of Des Moines.
(Note: In the Obituary for George Kirk, husband of Lillie May (Briggs) Kirk it is reported that they were married October 24, 1887 and that he transferred his membership to the First Methodist church of Boone, on this 50th wedding anniversary, October 24, 1937.)
