George Washington Anderson, son of Eliza and Abijah Anderson, was born July 11, 1871, at Jefferson, Iowa and died in his home at Ogden, Iowa, October 21, 1947, at the age of 76 years, 3 months, and 10 days, his death coming after an illness of over three and a half years.

His mother having died in his infancy, he was raised by her nearest friend, Mrs. Elizabeth Rumsey, and lived in both Jefferson and Ogden.

He was united in marriage wit Miss Myrtle Garvin on October 14, 1894 at Ogden; and to this union ten children were born, of whom three died in infancy, while the oldest son died in March, 1943. The living children are: Mrs. Grace Durbin of Ogden, Mrs. Florence Kruse of Seattle, Washington, Mrs. Bessie White of Centerville, South Dakota, Lloyd of Los Angeles, California, Mrs. Madge Elliott of Ogden, and the youngest son Paul, also of Los Angeles.

For twenty-three years, Mr. Anderson was the custodian of the Ogden High School, where he made many friends among the high school students. Ill health compelled him to retire four years ago. He was a member of the IOOF Lodge 281 of Ogden.

In addition to his widow and the living children, he is survived by one sister, Mrs. Laura Petrie of Los Angeles, 11 grandchildren, and one great-grandson, a number of distant relatives, and a great host of friends. We pray that the blessings of the Heavenly Father may rest upon all who mourn his death.
