ANNA LEONE WOODROW
Anna Leone Woodrow, 96, of Boone, formerly of Ames passed away December 29, at Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, January 3 at First United Methodist Church in Boone. Interment will be at 2 p.m. in Ames Municipal Cemetery.
Anna was born on February 24, 1911 in Boone, IA., to Josias and Martha (Engstrom) Brown. She married Burnerd Woodrow, and he preceded her in death in 1985. Anna was raised on a farmstead near Boone with five brothers and two sisters. Anna graduated from Iowa State University in 1934 with a major in Home Economics and a minor in Mathematics. She taught school, was a home economist and a county extension agent before marriage. She then assisted her husband on farms in Birmingham, Dallas Center, Huxley, and Kelley, Iowa. Following her farm life, she worked as a statistician at Iowa State University. She was an active member of Collegiate United Methodist Church in college and while living in Ames. Anna loved cooking, sewing, crocheting and visiting with family and friends.
She is survived by: sons, Alan Woodrow and wife Sandy of Littleton, CO., Roy Woodrow of Ames, grandchildren; Elizabeth Woodrow of Columbus, OH , Theodora Madison of Ames, sister; Clara Brown of Boone, Brother; Dean Brown and wife JoAnn of IL. and a host of family and friends.
Anna is preceded in death by her husband, sister; Elva Brown Geyman and brothers; Loren, Edwin, Dwight and Gail Brown.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, January 2 at the First United Methodist Church in Boone.
Memorials may be directed to the First United Methodist Church, Boone or Collegiate United Methodist Church, Ames.
