Lloyd Elmer Ritter 96, passed away Wed., Feb. 18, at the Stratford Nursing & Rehab Center, Stratford. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, Feb. 23, at Augustana Lutheran Church, Boone, with Rev. Daniel Solomon officiating. Visitation will be after 9:00 a.m. Monday at the Church until service time. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Ft. Dodge. Memorials may be made to the Church. The Palmer Funeral Home, Gowrie is serving the family.
Elmer is survived by his daughter Linda Howell and her husband Jerry of Boone; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife Lucretia; daughter Donna; parents, Lloyd E. and Lora Simpson Ritter; and sister Florence Paulus.
Lloyd Elmer Ritter was born Oct. 22, 1912 at Afton, Iowa, and attended Afton High School. On Mar. 27, 1933, he was united in marriage to Lucretia Lucas at Omaha. The couple lived in Creston, before moving to Ft. Dodge in 1935. Elmer had worked for the Union Pacific Railroad, and the Kalo Brick and Tile Co. in Ft. Dodge. He later became a partner with Johnson Construction Co in Gowrie. Elmer was one of the contractors that built the German POW Camp in Algona. Elmer later worked for Lilly Engineering in Boone until his retirement. Lucretia passed away in 2002. He was a member of the Augustana Lutheran Church, Kiwanis Club, and also enjoyed singing with the barbershop quartet. Boone News Republican
