Patrick "Pat" Miller, age 43, of 622-16th Street, died at his home on March 1, 2009. Funeral services will be Friday, March 6, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Newland officiating. Burial will be in the Squire Boone Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Iowa Army National Guard.
Pat was born in Boone on May 8, 1965, the son of Paul and Patricia (Moorman) Miller. He graduated from Boone High School in 1983. On April 27, 1984, he married Patricia 'Patti' McCool in Boone. Pat was a member of the Iowa Army National Guard and worked at the Army Aviation Support Facility in Boone as a helicopter repairman. He retired as a Specialist after 20 years of service in April of 2005. Pat presently was a letter carrier with the U.S. Postal Service in Ames where he had worked the past five years.
He was a member of the former Boone Elks Lodge BPOE #563 and the National Wild Turkey Federation. Pat enjoyed bowling, fishing, and hunting all types of game.
He is survived by his wife, Patti of Boone; four sons, Tony Miller and fiancée Vannessa Waldrop, Joshua, Cody, and Derik Miller, all of Boone; his parents, Paul and Patricia Miller of Boone; six brothers: twin brother Paul Miller and wife Brenda of Ainsworth, Alan and wife Sally, Andy and wife Lisa, Phil and wife Missy, Kyle, and Alex, all of Boone; two sisters, Kandi Miller of Boone and Kari Murphy and husband Rick of Ceylon, Minnesota; six grandchildren: Alexis Browning and Aiden and Serenity Miller, and Sasha, Clayton, and Starlyn Waldrop; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gary and Karen McCool of Boone; brother-in-law, Jim McCool of State Center; sister-in-law, Mary Bruscher of Des Moines; and several aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall on Thursday from 1:00 until 8:00 p.m. where the family will be present from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.
Visitation continues Friday at the First Baptist Church from 9:00 a.m. until service time.
Memorials may be directed to the family to be used at their discretion.
