Wanda J. Foster, 67, of Marion, died Sunday, Feb. 22, 2009 at Living Center East in Cedar Rapids, after a long battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 26 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids with Pastor Carol Sunderg officiating. The family will greet friends one hour before the service at the church. Inurnment will be at a later date.
Survivors include two sons, Aaron (Elizabeth) Foster of Houston, Texas, Wes (De) Foster of Des Moines; her mother, Darlene Carlson of Boone; grandson, Keegan Foster of Houston; sister, Kay (Roger) Wisecup of West Des Moines; brother, Paul (Kathy) Carlson of Raymore, MO; and brother-in-law, Mike Duett of Auburn, CA.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Foster; father, Haven Carlson; and sister, Janice Duett.
Wanda was born June 29, 1941 to Haven C. Carlson and Darlene (Dalrymple) Carlson in Ogden. She graduated from Ogden High School in 1959 and attended four years of college. On Aug. 16, 1973 Wanda married Arthur Foster in Tehran, Iran. She was a long time teacher, member of the French Club and loved to volunteer at local elementary schools. Wanda loved to read and was an avid world traveler.
