Wilfred "Bill" Degeneffe, age 63, of 1420 Oriole Road in rural Boone, died in Missouri Valley, Iowa, on February 2, 2009. His body has been cremated and family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Bill's Life on Saturday, February 7, 2009, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the City View Reception Hall (Gigglin' Goat), 628 Story St.
Bill was born in Oconto, Wisconsin, on February 25, 1945, the son of Norbert and Blanch (Miller) Degeneffe. He married Vicky Cornelius in Hales Corner, Wisconsin, on March 3, 1973. Bill lived in Wisconsin until 1973, when he came to Boone to work for Chicago Northwestern Railroad. He was presently an engineer for Union Pacific Railroad, working in Boone and Clinton. Bill loved to be on the water and fishing. He was an avid food enthusiast and also loved driving his cars and tractors, watching westerns, and spending time with his family. Bill also served with the Merchant Marines.
Bill was a member of the Cyclone Corvette Club and the NRA.
He is preceded in death by his parents, an aunt, Jean Degeneffe, and his beloved German Shepherd dog, Smokey. He is survived by his wife, Vicky of Boone; four sons, Lance Degeneffe of Ogden, Ed Degeneffe of Des Moines, Steven Degeneffe of Boone, and Scott Degeneffe and wife Melissa of Boone; seven grandchildren: Brandon, Dalton, Amber, Dominick, Evan, Grady, and Austin Degeneffe; a brother, Norbert Degeneffe of Oconto, Wisconsin; and two sisters, Patty Swear of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Jane Zantow of Boone.
Memorials may be given to the family to be used at their discretion.
