James "Jim" Edd Hill, 63, of Pilot Mound, died Friday, August 22, 2008 at Don Williams Park near Ogden, Iowa.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, August 27th at the Bacon Funeral Home and Crematory in Nevada. Burial will be in the Woodland Cemetery at Iowa Center, Iowa. Visitation will be 6:00 ? 8:00 PM Tuesday at the Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada.
Jim was born August 25, 1944 in Ames, Iowa, the son of Bert and Della Angeline "Angie" (Vogt) Hill. He graduated Union Mill (Missouri) High School in 1962. Jim attended the Apprentice Painters Union Trade College. He was a professional painter and retired in 2003 from Iowa State University. Jim was united in marriage to Patricia "Patty" Fry. Jim loved to fish and hunt and being a "jack of all trades." He lived for his kids and grandchildren.
Jim is survived by his wife: Patty, of Pilot Mound; his mother: Angie Hill of Pilot Mound; 3 sons: Jason Hill of Webster City, Matthew Hill of Nevada, Brian Hill of Boone; 2 step-sons: Dathan Purdy of Luther, Dwaine Purdy of Nevada; 3 daughters: Teresa Smith of Maxwell, Danielle Wolfinger of Boone, Danae Hill of Slater; 2 step-daughters: Dawn Bill of Clear Lake, Dana Blair of Ames; 19 grandchildren; 12 step-grandchildren: 1 brother: Jerry Hill of Colo; and a sister: Joyce Sternquist of Boone.
Jim was preceded in death by his father; a son: Michael Shane Hill; a brother and sister-in-law: Larry and Jeanie Hill.
