William Laurence Buckley, Ankeny, was born in 1930 in Ogden, graduating from Ogden High School in 1948. He was a member of the U.S. Air Force from 1949-1956. He married Donna Jean Waddell in 1955. He worked at Northern Natural Gas in Redfield as an operations technician for 40 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed rebuilding cars, fishing, visiting with friends and neighbors, and spending time with his family.
Laurence passed from this life on August 16, 2008. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mary Buckley; his wife of 52 years, Donna Waddell Buckley; one son, Chris; one daughter, Lori; and five brothers, R. LaVerne, Francis T., John D. (Jack), Eugene M. and A. Dewayne Buckley.
He is survived by three daughters, Shari (Gary) Ingram of Pleasanton, CA, Kristi (David) Plumb of Johnstown, CO, and Cari Buckley of Santa Monica, CA; two sons, Craig (Anne Medley) of Fairway, KS, and Scott (Elizabeth) Buckley of Johnston, IA; one brother, James Howard (Ethel) Buckley of Metairie, LA; two sisters, Mildred (Harry) Quarnstrom of Boone, IA, and Donna (Howard) Backous of Scotts Bluff, NE; eight grandchildren; Melissa Gibney, Monica (Wayne) Russell, Emily (Jonathan) Widdifield, Jeff and Lucas Plumb, Alyssa, Zach, and Madison Buckley; and one great-grandchild, Dalton Russell.
A special thanks to Dr. Angela Sandre and Penni at Medical Oncology & Hematology Associates; Sue McIntosh; and the staff at Mercy Hospice.
A combined memorial service will be held for Laurence, his wife Donna, and daughter Lori at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, 2008 at Mt. Olivet American Lutheran Church, 920 15th Street, Perry. Ashes will be interred in St. John's Cemetery in Ogden.
