Mildred M. Emmeck Caskey 94, passed away Sun., Sept. 21, 2008 at the Sunny Knoll Care Centre, Rockwell City. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, at the United Methodist Church, Rockwell City, with Rev. Marcia Sangel officiating, with a visitation at 10:00 a.m. at the Church until service time. Burial will be at Dillavou Cemetery near Ralston. Palmer & Swank Funeral Home is serving the family.
Mildred is survived by her daughter Joyce Paige Muff and her husband Joseph of Dow City; grandchildren, Lori Ann Miller (Sean) of Lisbon, Jeffrey Williams (Ruth) of Center Point, and Joshua Paige of Dow City; four great-grandchildren, Danielle and Derrick Williams, and Austin and Conner Miller. She also leaves two step-daughters, Brenda Miller (John) of Swan, and Jacque Morkin (Tom) of Marshalltown; step-son Nicholas Caskey (Becky) of Boone; five step-grandsons, Bill Miller (Myrt), David Miller (Julie), Ryan Caskey (Jennifer), Jason and Jonathan Caskey; two step-granddaughters, Cassie Dozier (Dean) and Karen Morkin; and step-great-grandchildren, Zachary, Miranda, Morgan, and Quinn, and Marshall; and sister-in-law Pauline MacDonald of Rockwell City. She was preceded in death by her first husband Emery Emmeck; second husband Norman Caskey; daughter Nadine Williams in 2007; her parents, Willis and Daisy Sapp MacDonald; and brother Maurice MacDonald.
Mildred Maxine MacDonald Emmeck Caskey was born Aug. 19, 1914 on a farm near Ralston, Iowa. She graduated valedictorian of the Class of 1932 from Glidden High School. Mildred then attended Iowa State Teacher's College in Cedar Falls, and taught rural schools in Greene and Carroll Counties for several years. On April 18, 1935 she was united in marriage to Emery H. Emmeck at Coon Rapids. The couple farmed near Scranton until 1943, when they purchased a farm near Churdan. In 1944, they moved to a farm in Logan Township, near Rockwell City. In 1976, they moved into Rockwell City. Emery passed away in 1992. In 1993, Mildred moved into Sunnyview Independent Living. In 1999, Mildred became a resident of the Eastern Star ? Masonic Home in Boone. She and Norman Caskey renewed their relationship of the early 1930's and were married May 26, 2001 at the O.E.S. Home. Norman passed away in 2003. In March of 2003, Mildred returned to Sunnyview Independent Living. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, UMW, LLL Club, and the Calhoun Co. Historical Society. Boone News Republican
