Chee "Kent" Keung Mui, age 56, of 1604 S.E. Linn Street, died November 13, 2008, at the Boone County Hospital. Funeral services are Tuesday, November 18, 2008, at 1:30 p.m. at Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall. Following the services, his body will be cremated.
Kent was born in Canton Province, China, on January 6, 1952, the son of King Pui and Tsang Kam (Fung) Mui. He married Yuk "Julie" Lan Cho in Kowloon City, Kowloon in Hong Kong on September 9, 1980. Kent has lived in the United States since December of 1976, and lived in Detroit, Michigan and Madison, Wisconsin, before coming to Boone in 1986. He and his wife, Julie, have owned and operated the New China Restaurant in Boone for over 22 years. He loved cooking.
Kent is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and a brother. He is survived by his wife, Julie and a son, Jason and daughter, Linda, all of Boone. He is also survived by three brothers, Yuan Fu Mui, Xin Zhou Mui, and Zhi Jian Mui, all of Chicago, a sister of Hong Kong, and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall on Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. where the family will be present from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Visitation continues Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
Memorials may be given to the family to be used at their discretion.
