Funeral services and Mass of Christian Burial for Betty M. Rossmiller, 84, a resident of Davenport will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 516 Fillmore Street, Davenport. The Rev. Edward O'Melia will be the celebrant. Burial will be in the National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. Visitation will be Monday from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home. The family invites you to join them for a Christian Wake service Monday at the funeral home at 6:15 p.m.
Mrs. Rossmiller died peacefully on Friday, January 23, 2009 at Genesis Medical Center West campus, Davenport. She was surrounded by her loving family at the time of her passing.
Betty Marie Scannell was born February 1, 1924 in Davenport a daughter of Lawrence S. and Dessie (Baker) Scannell. She was united in marriage to Robert G. Rossmiller on September 17, 1942 in Davenport. He preceded her in death on February 21, 1989.
She is a member of St. Mary's Parish and their Altar and Rosary Society; Putnam Museum; Daughters of Isabella; Life Member of the Women of the Moose; Chord Jewels; and the YMCA. In addition Betty was generous with both her time and treasure, volunteering for AMPS; CASI; VanderVeer Park and many other organizations.

Those left to honor her memory include, children and their spouses, Jeanne (Barry) Lucas, Boone, Iowa; Susan (Charles) Murrow, Davenport; Marianne (Tim) Kelso, Miami Lakes, FL; Sharon (Donnie) McIntyre, Karen (Michael) McCreary, Tim (Jean) Rossmiller all of Davenport; Daniel (Diana) Rossmiller; Amarillo, TX; Kenneth (Kristine) Rossmiller, Des Moines, IA; Michael Rossmiller, Henderson, NV; and Patrick (Shirley) Rossmiller, Austin, Texas; 32 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, a sister, Donna Self, Roseville, CA; and a brother, Bob (Rita) Scannell, LeClaire, Iowa.
In addition to her husband and parents, a son Thomas Rossmiller, and a brother, Lawrence Scannell, Jr. preceded her in death. May they rest in peace.
