Randal "Randy" E. Flynn, age 55, of 1528 Linn Street, died November 22, 2008, at the Boone County Hospital. Funeral services are Wednesday, November 26, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. at the Augustana Lutheran Church with Pastor Dan Solomon officiating. Burial will be in the Linwood Park Cemetery.
Randy was born in Ord, Nebraska, on July 24, 1953, the son of F. Lyle and Alice (Johnsen) Flynn. He graduated from United Community High School in 1971 and graduated from Iowa State University in 1977 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science and Ag Business. Randy married Dena Bender in Ames on August 16, 1997. He has farmed in Boone County in the Des Moines and Jackson townships since 1977. He was a member of the Augustana Lutheran Church, Pheasants Forever, and was a Boone County 4-H Leader. Randy enjoyed golfing, hunting, Iowa State University athletics, and the Boone County Fair.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Alice. Randy is survived by his wife, Dena of Boone; three sons, Matthew Flynn and wife, Erika of Kansas City, Kansas, Daniel Flynn of Boone, and Cale Swanson of Cedar Falls; two daughters, Ann Flynn of Dakota Dunes, South Dakota and Shayna Swanson of Chaska, Minnesota; his father, F. Lyle Flynn of Boone; a brother, Bob Flynn and wife, Mary of Boone; a sister, Kathy Williams and husband Bob of Boone. Randy is also survived by Patty Flynn of Boone and numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.
Friends may call at Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall on Tuesday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. where the family will be present from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Visitation continues Wednesday at the Church from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m.
Memorials may be given to the Boone County 4-H Foundation or the Boone County Chapter of Pheasants Forever.
